Obituary of Ella Mae Holt

Ella Mae Holt, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Santa Clara after a short battle with pneumonia. She was born in Richmond, CA on October 3, 1924, one of five children born to Gisepi and Ernesta Nicoletti. Ella is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, William Thomas Holt, Jr. She is also survived by her son, David Caldwell (Annie), and her three stepdaughters, Cindy Mercer (Rick), Suzie Bargetto (Jim), and Linda Ronning (Mitch). She leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Carla, Allison (Trey), Amy, Joe, Sarah, Kylie and Emma. She is preceded in death by her son Bob Caldwell, her parents, and all of her siblings. Ella attended local schools in Richmond and she eventually resided with her sister Olga in San Jose, California where she worked for General Electric for 15 years. This is where she met Bill Holt and they were married in 1982. She spent the last two years in Sunnyvale under the wonderful care of Sunrise of Sunnyvale. Before that Bill and Ella enjoyed 15 wonderful years in Cameron Park, California where they enjoyed golf, cooking, gambling, and entertaining. Ella's family was very important to her and she enjoyed many family gatherings at their home. A memorial service celebrating Ella's life will held on Friday April 24th, at 2:00 pm at Santa Cruz Memorial Oakwood Chapel 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. A reception will follow at the home of Suzie and Jim Bargetto. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Ella's memory, can be made to Alzheimer's Assoc. of Northern California 1777 Capitola Road #A, Santa Cruz, CA 95062.
