Obituary of Thomas Warren Floyd

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
THOMAS (TOM) WARREN FLOYD, 90, of Santa Cruz, California passed away on October 29, 2015. Tom was born in Artesia, New Mexico and raised in California. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 1942. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps, and was stationed in the South Pacific from 1943-1945. He enrolled in the International Correspondence School to study land surveying and eventually earned his license. He practiced in that field from 1947 until August 2015. His hobbies were tennis and karaoke. He enjoyed singing "Sinatra" and "Rap" at Coasters and the Ideal in Santa Cruz. He was passionate about his sport's teams, both professional and college. His favorite teams were the San Francisco Giants, Forty-Niners, and Stanford. Tom always said his greatest accomplishment was his marriage to the love of his life, Shirley. They were happily married for twenty-eight years but unfortunately she was taken too soon. He missed her every day of his life, but continued to go on by focusing on the love he had for his family. Tom was the eternal optimist and always lived life to the fullest. His favorite times were those spent with his family. No man could ever claim a stronger bond with his children or grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Laura (Jim), Carole (Rob), David (Toni), his grandchildren (Aaron, Lindsay, Ryan, Kim, Bethy, and Chris), and his siblings, Jeannette and Bob. Tom was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of having him in their lives. He was unbelievably kind and generous, always enriching the lives of others. Tom, Dad, Pops, Pop, Poppi, Gramps, Grampy, Grandpa, and Rooster, we will miss you more than words can say. We are all better people because of you. A "Celebration of Life" in Tom's honor will be held on November 21st. For more information email Carole Maloney ([email protected]). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Cardiovascular Research Foundation or National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research.
