Obituary of Walter Vernon Kannenberg

Mr. Walter Vernon Kannenberg passed away peacefully in Oklahoma on November 3rd 2015 at the age of 97. Walter is survived by his daughters, Patricia Jorn and Betty Iker, along with four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. Walter was born on February 5th 1918 in Cleveland, OH to Edward and Emma Kannenberg. Walter served two years in the US Army. After leaving the army Walter went to work for United Artist Theatre Company where he managed theaters throughout the Central Valley and then UA Cinemas in Santa Cruz. Walter was with the company for more than 50 years and received a Gold card from United Artist Theatre. After Walter's retirement he bought a Ranch in the Foothills of Clovis CA where he enjoyed farming cattle. Everyone remembers Walter as a fun loving man who would do anything for you. Walter always wanted to take you to the movie theatre or to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz. He also loved to take you out to eat to his favorite places. Walter was a kind soul and loved life. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28th, 11:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, 1927 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 where Walter will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Retha McQuone Kannenberg.
