Obituary of Gloria Lois Baker

Gloria Lois Baker, daughter of Naetti G. & Fredrick Buerkel, passed away on January 31st after a quick and unexpected occurrence of Cancer. She is survived by her adoptive daughter, Heather Bechtel of Santa Cruz, CA. Gloria was born in Brooklyn, New York. She lived in Santa Cruz for the past 46 yrs. Her family (including her precious cats), and her many friends were dear to her. Gloria was a Business graduate and worked in a variety of positions. She attended VTI in 1988 where she earned a certificate (with honors) in computer applications & bookkeeping. She had great compassion, a zest for life and especially loved animals. Gloria volunteered over the past 25 years as a bookkeeper for AVA, a human service program and for The Rabbit Haven, a local animal welfare group. A memorial service will be held for her at Oakwood chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd Santa Cruz, CA Thursday February 11, 2016 at 2PM. All friends, family, & children welcome. A reception will follow the service at the same location. Gloria's beautiful life has now come to an end. She died as she lived, everyone's friend. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
