Obituary of Lauralee Joy Gafvert

Lauralee Joy Gafvert September 2, 1945 - March 21, 2016 Resident of San Jose Lauralee Joy Gafvert, born in Santa Cruz on September 2, 1945, passed away on March 21, 2016 at the age of 70. She was raised in Santa Cruz, attended Laurel Elementary and Mission Hill Jr. High and was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School. Lauralee went on to work in the property management industry, starting with motels, RV parks, apartments and most recently, mobile home communities. Her career lasted for 48 years. She loved her job working for Barbaccia Properties and really loved all of her co-workers and colleagues. Lauralee claimed that she wasn't ready to retire yet, she was having too much fun. Lauralee enjoyed playing music and singing. She and her husband, Walt, would play at various venues around Northern California. She also loved cooking, especially for family and friends, and did it on a regular basis. She loved the ocean and the beach and was a collector of various things. Above all she loved her family and friends. She was always there if you needed something. Lauralee had a heart of gold and a smile like sunshine, she will be deeply missed. Lauralee is survived by her husband of 33 years, Walter L. Gafvert; sister, Maureen Van Sommeran; sons, Arthur Jack Carson and Bruce Allen Carson; daughter-in-laws, Eleanor Carson and Lisa Carson; granddaughters, Leyna Kingman and Jennifer Crisci; grandsons, Jeff & Arthur Carson and Brian Carson; great-grandson, Arthur Jeffrey Carson; great-granddaughter, Alexa Kingman; and nephew, Sean Van Sommeran. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myra Caldwell in 1981 and her father, Jack Caldwell, in 1985. A memorial service will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel located at 3301 Paul Sweet Road in Santa Cruz on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10 AM.
