Truly sorry to hear about Ron's passing. My condolences to all family members.
I remember Ron as one of the most determined baseball players I ever coached.
Known to his teammates "Chilly" he simply never took an at-bat "off". That determination and his consistent line drive power made him one of the most feared high school hitters on the Central Coast in the late 70's.
Ron was a key member of the 1977-78 Soquel High baseball teams that won back-to-back league championships and advanced to the CCS Finals for the first time in school history. His signature moment was a grand slam home run against Campbell in the 1977 CCS Semi-final at Salinas Municipal Stadium.
I get a little misty remembering.
