Ronald Ray Childers
February 25, 1960 - March 27, 2016
Resident of Sacramento
Ronald Ray Childers, born on February 25, 1960, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was 56.
Ron was a native of Los Angeles and lived in Santa Cruz from 1965 until 2010. After graduating from Soquel High School in 1978 he worked at Seagate Technologies in Scotts Valley and Jefferson Desk and File with his brother Randy. After serving 4 years in the United States Navy, he came back to Santa Cruz where he got married and children. He then worked at Wrigley's Gum Factory with his dad, Ronald Sr., until it shut down in 1996. In 2010 he moved to Sacramento after the passing of his mother.
Ron's passion was all things sports. He was on the Soquel High School baseball team all through his high school days. He spent most of his time either playing or watching sports. He transferred this passion into his years of extensive collectable baseball memorabilia. His other enjoyments were collecting miniature liquor bottles that he had picked up in his many travels while in the Navy. He also enjoyed fishing and spent many weekends with his brothers trying to hook 'the big one'. Ron was known for his rough exterior but gentle soul and was an extremely caring person and donated to many charitable organizations.
Ron is survived by his two children, Stacey Lynn Childers of Santa Cruz, CA and Ronald Gregory Childers of Bakersfield, CA; grandson, Anthony Chance Rodriguez; and stepdaughter, Victoria Areshchenkova of Los Gatos, CA. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Keever of Healy, Alaska; brother, Bob Childers of Scottsdale, AZ; several nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ann Childers; father, Ronald Theodore Childers; and brother, Randy Childers.
Ron was a devoted father and grandfather. He was able to bless his children with many family outings and experiences throughout the years. He enjoyed creating memories that will last forever for his entire family. He enjoyed being social, had a great personality with a great sense of humor.
