Obituary of Kay Naomi Bertsch

Kay Naomi Bertsch, 70, departed this life with family by her side following a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. Kay was a lifelong resident of Santa Cruz County. She was born in Santa Cruz and graduated from Santa Cruz High School in 1964. She later moved to Ben Lomond in 1973 where she resided up to the time of death. Kay worked in the defense electronics industry for 20 years at Watkins-Johnson Company and Rank Electronics in Scotts Valley, CA. She made a career change in 1987 to have time flexibility for family and worked at the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District up until the time of her retirement in 2011. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard and loved spending time with her family. Kay is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Randy; son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Karrie Bertsch of Los Gatos; grandsons Garrett and Parker Bertsch of Los Gatos; sisters Joyce Fehn-Guiliano of Scotts Valley and Mary Lou Guiliano of Santa Cruz; and brother Jerry Guiliano of Paradise, CA. Her love for family and community will be missed by all who knew her. A private service is being held to celebrate Kay's life with family and close friends.
