Obituary of George Duncan Henderson

George Henderson, 88, passed away peacefully May 30, 2016 at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, CA. He and his wife of 64 years, Patricia Henderson, moved from Bellevue, WA to Santa Cruz to be closer to family, daughter Betsy Cameron (George) of Santa Cruz, CA and son, Alan Henderson (Jessie) of Marina, CA. He was grandfather of Nicole Franke and Katrina Henderson, great grandfather of Philip Franke of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, grandfather of David and Mackenzie Cameron of Santa Cruz and honorary grandfather to Maria and Christopher Vasquez-Vargas of Santa Cruz. George was an avid reader, gardener, stamp collector and friend to all. He volunteered 9 years at Gault Elementary School in Santa Cruz and 17 years at Eastgate Elementary School in Bellevue, WA. He served in the Merchant Marine and Army Transport, 1945-1948 on the Liberty Ships. He was a 32nd degree Masonic Mason and member of Eastgate Congregational Church in Bellevue, WA and Plymouth Congregational Church of Seattle, WA. George retired from PEMCO Insurance Company in Seattle, WA after 23 years as a beloved manager. He worked for Hills Brothers Coffee Company for 18 years before joining PEMCO. An Ecumenical Memorial Service for George Henderson and others who died recently at Dominican Hospital will be held Wednesday, June 15th at 3:00PM in the hospital chapel at 1555 Soquel Drive. Santa Cruz. A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, June 25th at 11:00am at Oakwood Memorial Chapel with a reception to follow 3301 Paul Sweet Rd. Santa Cruz, CA.
