Graduated Dos Palos High School, class of 1953 where he met and married his high school sweetheart Dona "Darlene" Coleman. Living in Dos Palos he drove tractors for his family's Land Leveling business and later, moved to Fresno, where he and Darlene had 2 children. Darrell worked for PG&E for many years, starting as a Lineman, then to installing substations. Moving to Clovis in 1969, he and his family had a country home where he could have cattle, a couple of horses, and a tractor. He provided a warm, loving, down to earth, small farm for his family to grow in. In 1977, Darrell and Darlene left Clovis to work in Saudi Arabia for seven years where he ran a crew installing substations for the power grid in Daharan. During that time, they enjoyed travel and adventure around the world. Darrell and his wife then owned and worked a cattle and poultry farm in Oklahoma before retiring in 2002 to Santa Cruz where their children and grand children lived. In his late wife's words: Calm and steady, kind and caring describes him best. To everyone that knew him, he was a handsome, hardworking, respectful, and compassionate man, with a great sense of humor. Always seeing the best in others and always ready to help those in need. He was a role model, moral compass, gave words of inspiration and wisdom to his children and grandchildren and was dearly loved by his many friends around the world. An adored husband of 61 years, Darrell and Darlene knew that being, doing, seeing and feeling everything together was their key to everlasting love. Darrell passed away Father's Day, June 19th 2016 reunited with his beloved wife Darlene, and is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Karsen and Devlin, Son and daughter-in-law Derek and Polly, Grand Children Erica, Kalla, Weston and Ashland, Great grandchildren Gavin and Raegan, and brother Kenneth.
