Obituary of Adalou McGovern

Mrs. Adalou McGovern of Santa Cruz passed away on Wednesday, June 15 at the age of 94. Adalou was born to Anna May Hughes and Laury Moore on February 16, 1922 in Stockton, CA. Her mother died in childbirth. She was later adopted and raised by Mr. and Mrs. H Stephens of San Francisco. She attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont. After high school, Adalou married William O. Lloyd in 1940. She had one child in 1942. After divorcing William in 1943, she met and married the love of her life Joseph McGovern in 1947. They remained together until Joseph's passing in 1988. Adalou was a long time employee of Wrigley's in Santa Cruz until her retirement in 1984. Adalou is survived by her son, William R. Lloyd of San Jose, her two grandchildren, William M. Lloyd and Veronica Dimitri and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of life is scheduled for July 16 at her home. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers or donations.
