Obituary of Robert Aubrey Brooke

Robert Aubrey Brooke, Jr. went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness on February 22nd. He was 79 years old. Robert "Bob" was born on December 11, 1938 in Tucson Arizona to Robert Aubrey Brooke, Sr. and Helen Gambrell Brooke. He moved from Arizona to Santa Cruz with his Mom and siblings in 1957. Shortly after moving to Santa Cruz he met his wife Paula Volpini at the Coconut Grove. They married and had three children. Bob graduated from the University of California at Berkley in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration. After several jobs in the Bay Area, Bob decided to become a life insurance agent in 1967 with Mass Mutual. He worked up until recently, celebrating his 50th anniversary with Mass Mutual in 2017. He was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and received his Family Business Specialist designation in 1996. He was also a member and past president Santa Cruz Life Underwriters and Surf City Kiwanis Club. Bob was an active member of Santa Cruz Bible Church where he taught classes and served as an usher for over 20 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was attending the various activities and sporting events of his grandkids. Bob is survived by his wife Paula Volpini Brooke, sons John and Paul, daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Butch Egner, grandchildren, Zach, Mia, Luke, Sarah, Emma, Aiden, Brooke and Brody. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise Richardson and Jaime Brooke, brother, Richard Brooke, brother in law Clay Leonard, sister in law Anna Volpini Leonard, his daughter-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Bob's strong faith and love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him. Although he will be missed immensely, we know we will see him again in Heaven. His memorial service will be held at Santa Cruz Bible Church at 440 Frederick Street, Santa Cruz on April 7 at 11:00am. A reception to follow at the church.
