Obituary of Jose Luis Vega Caudillo

Jose Luis Vega Caudillo passed away on Friday, June 8 at the age of 77. Jose Luis was born in Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose Tomas Vega Hernandez and Margarita Caudillo, where he lived until moving to Santa Paula, CA before settling in Santa Cruz. Before retiring, Jose Luis worked as a maintenance mechanic at Limoneira Lemon Packing House in Santa Paula. Jose Luis believed that one doesn't need luxury in order to travel and explore new places. He was full of curiosity and enjoyed being adventurous and trying new food. It was his wish to pass this legacy to his children so that they too can travel and explore. Jose Luis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Soledad Vega Gutierrez. He is also survived by his sister, Angelica Vega, his eleven children, Juan Manuel Vega; Maria E. Vargas; Elia Vargas, Hector Vega; Cristina Vega-Martinez; Fernando Vega; Juana Rico; Hilda Vega; Octavio Vega; Frances Lazaro and Andres Vega; thirty three grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and extended family. He was preceded in death by his his brother, Javier Vega in 2002 and his sisters, Socorro Vega in 2014 and Teresa Hernandez in 2017. Services will be held at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd., Santa Cruz, CA. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 15 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 AM with a graveside committal to follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
