Ruth was a treasured friend to our mother and our family for nearly her entire life. During that time she celebrated with us and entertained us with her travel stories and her unique wit. She occupied a special place representing a connection to the past while communicating optimism and encouragement about the future. A keen observer of the human condition, she was never shy about having (and sharing) an opinion. Our family will miss her deeply.

For over 50 years Ruth was a mentor, friend, counselor, respected colleague, and an important influence in my life. I was fortunate to have been a part of the three year Federal grant program she directed to improve the lives of severely multi-handicapped children. It was a significant experience for all those involved: children, staff, and parents.
Frank and direct, Ruth was loyal in her friendships, a support in times of need, and a thoughtful hostess. It was a joy to watch pictures of her travels. She was an informed traveler, an excellent photographer, and diligent editor of her work.
My husband, Boyd, and I have so many memories of our times with Ruth (she introduced us). We treasure the breakfast we shared when we last returned to Porterville from our present home in Idaho for a visit in August, 2019. We shall be forever grateful that Ruth was in our lives.
