Obituary of Karen Jane Whitcomb

Karen passed away on May 12th after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Portland, OR and raised in Palm Desert, CA, she graduated in 1957 with a teaching credential from San Jose State and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta. She was a resident of Santa Cruz County for over 50 years. She was an avid line dancer at Louden Nelson Community Center for many years. She loved country music, especially Alan Jackson and the jazz festival in Monterey. She loved to travel, tole painting and mosaic crafts. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over thirty-five years. She also attended Twin Lakes Church in Aptos for over forty years. She is survived by her two daughters Michele Whitcomb Vieira and Maureen Whitcomb of Santa Cruz, and two sons Mark Whitcomb of Santa Cruz and wife Lisa Whitcomb and Mike Whitcomb of Birmingham, AL and wife Lori Whitcomb. She is also survived by her brother Gary Olesen of Palm Desert, CA. She had seven grandchildren Riley Vieira, Caden and Logan Whitcomb from Santa Cruz. Amy Arrant, Christy Johannesmeyer, Rob and Andy Whitcomb of Alabama, along with ten great grandchildren. Karen had a great sense of humor and a flare for life!! She will be greatly missed by her family.
