Obituary of Salle Ann Metzger
Please share a memory of Salle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Salle’s early years, in rural southern Ohio, were spent playing outside, in a different time and place, where the main rule was be home before the streetlights came on. Her many unforgettable adventures included her best and newly reunited friend Debbie and her dog buster. A planned surprise reunion fell a few months short.
Salle graduated from Ohio State in 1986 with a degree in fine arts where she participated in many of the actors theatre plays highlighted by a co staring role in Christopher Durang’s “Laughing Wild”to rave reviews.
Salle spent time in Los Angeles and Hawaii before moving to Santa Cruz to be closer to her beloved sister Susan.
Salle was a dedicated and generous teacher. She always kept her classrooms stocked with supplies and snacks in the Watsonville school district for 20 years. She cared deeply for each and everyone of her young children.
Surfing was her passion. She spent summers in the warm Pacific waters in Mexico where she found peace and solace.
Salle will be deeply missed by all her friends, family, former students and coworkers and everyone she encountered with her infectious joy.
Salle passed away due to complications after falling.
Service dates have yet to be set. A surfing paddle out is being planned in Santa Cruz as well as being reunited with her sister Susan, mom Rosemary and dad Marshall in Jeromesville Ohio.
