Obituary of Celia Ybarra

Funeral services were held on Friday for Celia Ybarra, 80, who passed away peacefully at her Santa Cruz home on Sunday, June 2, 2013. A native of Smiley, Texas, she has lived in Santa Cruz since 1970. Celia loved following the Oakland A's and watching Country Music Television. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her pets and her family. Celia is survived by her four children, Diana Ybarra, Sylvia (Jerry) Soper, Carlos (Gina) Ybarra, all of Santa Cruz and Patricia (Tom) Gilbertson of Scotts Valley, her 7 grandchildren, Chendo, Natalie, Diego, Mariel, Marissa, Alexia and Darya, and her 3 great grandchildren, Ethan, Miles and Mateo. She is also survived by her 7 brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen, Amelia, Diane, Eddie, Gilbert, Luis, and Raul, numerous nieces and nephews and her four loyal companions, Willie, Oscar, Jack and Baby and by mom's loving caregivers, Cindy, Evelyn, Isabelle and Diane. Celia is preceded in death by her husband, Abelardo in 1998. A Catholic Blessing service was held at Santa Cruz Memorial, 1927 Ocean Street on Friday, June 7 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a graveside committal where she was laid next to her beloved Abelardo. Contributions preferred to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Drive, Scotts Valley.
