Obituary of John Larry Bertolucci

Larry Bertolucci, 75 passed away in Santa Cruz suddenly Wednesday morning. He was a native of Santa Cruz, where he lived all his life and attended Santa Cruz High. Because his father died when Larry was 11, he went to work quite young. After many different jobs, including a sanitation worker, he joined the Capitola Fire Dept. He proudly retired as Battallion Chief from Central Fire Dept. after 33 years. Larry also worked as a commercial fisherman out of Santa Cruz. A member of the Santa Cruz Water Ski Club, he enjoyed waterskiing in the ocean, as well as scuba diving. He was also a member of the S.C Surf Bowl League. He enjoyed fishing and his yearly deer hunting trips, and loved traveling with his family, especially to Puerto Vallarta with his wife Clara. He also loved playing and coaching his children in softball and Little League. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Clara Frances, his son John Larry Bertolucci, Jr of Golden, CO, daughters Lori Renee Bertolucci of Soquel, and Sherry Lynn and son-in-law Mike Dean of Scotts Valley and son Ricky Jones of Santa Cruz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cassandra Lynn Tenny of San Jose, Amanda Lynn Smith of San Diego, and Travis and Sierra Jones of Santa Cruz and great grandson, Calvin James Tenny. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz at 2:00 P.M. Visitation for family and friends will be at the chapel on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until time of the service.
