Obituary of Vicente F Germano

Vicente F. Germano, MD passed away on Monday, 26th of August, 2013 after 16 years of dialysis treatment for renal failure. He touched many lives with his gentle spirit, caring personality, music, generous heart and positive outlook on life. Vicente was born in Bato, Leyte, Philippines and graduated from South Western University as a medical doctor specializing in Ob-Gyn and Primary Care. He enjoyed a long career at Western Leyte Provincial Hospital where he delivered hundreds of babies and supported maternal care as the Chief of Staff. When he moved to California in 1997 after a 4 year stay in Chicago, Illinois, he worked at Driftwood Convalescent Hospital, where he continued a valiant clinical career together with his colleagues in nursing. An avid and classically trained pianist, Vicente loved to play Chopin, Rachmaninoff and other Filipino Folk Music. Earlier in his life, Vicente was also a competitive swimmer and taught numerous young relatives and friends how to swim as a lifeguard in the Pacific Ocean. He was a member of both St Joseph's and Star of the Sea parish where he sang with the church choir every Sunday. Vicente is survived by several of his sisters (Lily, Carmen, Shirley, Dominiciana) nieces (Honeybee, Josephine, Fe, Gellie, Eliza, Eangelica) and nephews (Don, Ramie, Dondon, Gene, Joe) and grandnieces (Emily, Honel, Mariel, Marica, Maresa, Gale, Gellie Mae, Stephanie) and grandnephews (Gabriel, Joshua, Benjie, Benedict, Carlo, Glendon) throughout Cebu City, Philippines, Toronto and Vancouver, Canada and in the US in Chicago, Minnesota, Glendale, SF Bay Area, New York and Auckland, NZ. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, August 26, 2013 from 3pm to 9pm and a funeral mass and service on Wednesday morning, 9:30am, held by Rev Fr Ronald Green, at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA. Burial to follow at Oakwood Memorial.
