Obituary of Lois Mary Koue
Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
After a brief illness, Lois Mary Koue passed away on January 30. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was devoted to the caring support of an extended family and friends.
Daughter of Hugh and Vera Aaroe Lyons of San Francisco and Soledad, CA, Lois was born in San Francisco and moved at an early age to Salinas where she graduated from Salinas High School and Hartnell College. She and her husband of 62 years, Harry E. Koue, married in 1952 and raised their children in Salinas before moving to Aptos in 1970. Lois worked in medical offices and was co-owner of a family business, Teddy Bear Toy Shop. Lois managed the toy store in Rancho Del Mar Center in Aptos for many years. She was also a long-time member of Native Daughters of the Golden West.
Lois loved to be surrounded by family and friends and was happiest when hosting large and noisy family gatherings. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Lake Tahoe.
In addition to her husband Harry, Lois is survived by her sons, Mark Koue (Mary Ann) of Aptos, Matthew Koue of Corralitos, and Paul Vincent Koue of Sacramento and her adopted daughter, Michelle Galvin of Salinas; grandchildren, Kristen and Laura Koue, Lena Vincent, and Lisa and Bryan Shaw; her brother John Lyons (Gail Mowrey) of Etna, CA, sister-in-law Millicent Dethlefsen of San Jose, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 17, at noon at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz. Contributions to your favorite charity in her name may be made in lieu of flowers.
