Obituary of Barbara Ann Bihn

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara ("Bobbie") was a bright spirit and an inspiring friend to many, many people in the Santa Cruz area. She established the Drop-in Grief Support Group at Hospice of Santa Cruz, and volunteered there for over 25 years, touching the lives of thousands. In the 1970s, she ran the first computer lab at Aptos High School, reflecting her life-long fascination with technology. Born in San Jose on November 15, 1931, Barbara attended Sacred Heart School and Notre Dame High School, and later Cabrillo College. Barbara married Michael Bihn in 1955. Together they had three sons: Gregory, Daniel, and Thomas; and an adopted daughter Kimberly. Her grandson Alex and her children were always a part of her life, no matter where they were in the world. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Carnes, and her mother Marie Carnes (née Uphoff). Barbara's good sense of humor, generous warmth, and youthful mastery of the latest iPhone apps will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. A memorial service will held at St. Joseph's Church in Capitola, Saturday March 8th at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donation be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz.
