Mildred Jean (Rommel) Carlson passed away on Thursday February 27th. Jean was born in Modesto California but moved to Santa Cruz when she was a toddler and grew up in the "Twin Lakes" area. She attended local schools and graduated from Santa Cruz High.
Jean was a collector, hobbyist, artist, avid gardener and professional art restorer (oil painting). She also enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Jean is survived by her son David Ayers and his wife, Linda of Fresno, CA, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter; Cathy Sue Ayers of HI, husband; Elwood "Woody" Carlson, sister; Joan Avery of Santa Cruz, and her parents Howell and Lela Rommel of Santa Cruz.
The family would like to especially thank Jean's friend and caregiver Beatriz Ocoranza of Soquel and niece Lindsey Avery of Santa Cruz for all that they did to make Jean's life pleasurable.
