Obituary of Elena R Solorzano

Elena R. Solorzano, 93 passed of natural causes with her local family by her side. She is survived by her children Enrique and wife, Sonia of San Jose, CA, Alvaro and wife, Marybel of Houston, TX, Elsa Gabellini and husband, Richard of Aptos, CA, Juan from Pittsburg, CA and Sylvia of Miami, FL. Elena was also survived by sister Rosita Ehlert living in Portugal and 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren who are living in different parts of the US. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan P. Solorzano and her parents Dr. Enrique Rodriguez and Elsa Sperber. Elena was a homemaker all her life, doing light part time work as her children grew up. She was born in Managua, Nicaragua and as a young girl she lived in Biloxi, Mississippi for a year and went to Germany several times to visit her grandparents. She spoke Spanish, German and English fluently. In 1971 she moved permanently to the US and started a new life as a dotting grandmother. She was a devoted, loving Catholic mother and enjoyed to travel, sew and cook. Every visitor to her home left with some of her wonderful cooking to eat later. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed the care, attention and camaraderie of La Posada Retirement Community in Santa Cruz during the past five years of her life. Services will be held on Monday March 31, 2014 St Joseph's Catholic Community 435 Monterey Ave Capitola, CA at 11 AM there will be a luncheon served following the service for friends and family. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Oakwood Memorial Park in Santa Cruz, CA. The family requests that donations be made to the La Posada Residents Association.
