Obituary of Joyce I. Meyers

Joyce I. Meyers, a longtime resident of Watsonville, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. She was 83. Joyce was born in Long Beach, CA on September 30, 1930. She attended the Branciforte School in Soquel. She spent most of her life (64 years) in Watsonville but she once lived in New Orleans, LA and Pensacola, FL. She worked as a Tissue Technician for the Pathology Lab at Watsonville Hospital. For the 37 years she was there she worked under Dr. Ralph Ortiz, Dr. Standage and Dr. Williams. She loved the many friends she had there. Joyce loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She adored animals and her beautiful cat, Molly, was her loving companion. Before her stroke she loved shopping and gardening. She was great at gardening and was delighted in seeing her flowers and vegetable garden grow. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Watsonville. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Susan Loudon and Nancy Vargas; grandsons, Chad (Connie), Eric (Bridgett) and Benjamin (Isha) Vargas; granddaughter, China Justus; great-grandchildren, Chanel and Chrystelle Vargas, Benny Jr. and Liza Vargas, Blaze Dunn and one great-grandchild on the way; and a niece and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin D. Moore and Flora O. (McClammy) Moore; and her son, Rick Meyers who passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2012.
