Obituary of Robert Arthur Laxson
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Arthur Laxson passed away peacefully on March 21, 2014 in Lancaster, CA. Born and raised in Antioch, Robert was a star long distance runner in High School, one of the fastest in the school's history. Robert would then join the US Navy at only 17 years of age, and to serve his country in World War II. Serving on the Navy's flagship, the U.S.S. Maryland, or "The Fighting Mary" to some, Robert was proud of his country, and received many commendations for his service. In fact, he would return later in life to once again serve his country as a member of the Navy.
After the War, Robert became a square dance caller and called at many Pocono Resorts in Pennsylvania. Many who knew him would say that Robert was quite the 'tinkerer'; he loved crafting and experimenting.
Late in life, Robert's leadership was once again called upon, as a mobile home activist. His legacy is defined by his unwavering dedication and service to all those around him.
He is survived by his children, Claire Pirie, Terry Ellen, Alan Laxson and Brooke Laxson Dugen, and his wife of over thirty years, Marge Laxson. He is preceded in death by his first wife, LaJuana Brown.
