I'm so sad to hear that Barclay passed away. I ran into him at the beginning of this month. I told him how much I enjoyed working the begonia crop with him many many (almost 40!) years ago, and how he, by example, taught me how to be a good supervisor. I had made a pretty big mistake, not setting aside a large number of bulbs for a big jobber customer. I was dreading telling Barclay, but when I did, he said to me, "If you hadn't made any mistakes, then that would mean that you were better at this than I am." That lesson always stayed with me, and I tried to carry that attitude with me, in my various workplace situations. I'm so fortunate that I ran into Barclay and got to tell him that story and express my appreciation for my time as his employee. I have so many great memories from my years at BBR. My condolences to the entire family.
