Obituary for Shirley Dodd Graham January 22, 1922 - November 2, 2016 Shirley Dodd Graham died peacefully surrounded by love on November 2, 2016. The daughter of John James and Mildred Dodd, she was born January 22, 1922 in Lovelock, Nevada. Shirley moved to California with her mother and beloved sister Patty and it was there that her mother met L.J Cardwell who became her stepfather. It was also in California that Shirley met her husband Bill Graham. Together, Shirley and Bill were active in their community of Scott Valley, California where they founded and ran Graham & Son, a transit mix concrete business. Shirley and Bill were also instrumental in building the Santa Cruz Ski Club Lodge at Donner Summit. Their love of the mountains led them to build a home on Donner Lake where Bill died in 2003. Shirley continued living there and reveling in the view of the lake's blue waters for many years before moving to Marin county to be near her son, Jay Graham. Shirley is remembered for her strength, humor and positive attitude. She is survived by her son Jay Graham and his wife Eileen Hansen of Mill Valley. Shirley is also survived by her late son Jack's wife Linda Graham (Phoenix, Arizona) and three grandchildren—Nikki (Brett) Maas, Dean Graham and Travis Graham, all of whom live in Santa Cruz. The burial was held Saturday, November 5th attended by immediate family. A memorial will take place at a later date.
