Obituary of Jody Beth Balboa

Jody Beth Balboa, 64, of Watsonville, unexpectedly passed away, while surrounded by her family and close friends, on March 24, 2017, due to a massive heart attack. Jody Beth Balboa was born in Hayward, California on July 28, 1952. She graduated from Hayward High School, and continued on to UC Santa Barbara. She married Pete Balboa in June of 1983 and they were married 34 years. Jody worked as a Private Caregiver for the last 30 years, most recently contracted through Maximillian Home Health Services. She enjoyed all of her grandchildren, country western music, real fast cars, 49ers football, animals, cookbooks, online slot machines, and she always went the "extra mile" to help people. She was also actively involved in many charitable foundations, such as the ASPCA, giving back to the community as much as she possibly could. Jody is survived by her loving husband, Pete Velasquez Balboa; mother, Barbara Jean McLellan; two sisters, Carolyn Salomon and Kimberly McLellan; one brother, Dennis; four nephews; sons and daughters, Danny Abellera (Theresa), Fernando Abellera III (Terri), Tiffany Abellera-Blas (Jose), Pete Balboa Jr., Paul Balboa, and Joel Mesa (Evelyn); and her 13 grandchildren, Andrew, Maya, Alexis, Aaliyah, Anissa, Jessalyn, Jaylene, Emma, Ella, Joel Jr., Jacob, Arrell and Elyssa Beth, who were her biggest pride and joys. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Travis McLellan, who passed away May 2,1971. Services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Santa Cruz Memorial - Oakwood Chapel at 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95065. Visitation will start at 3:00 PM. Rosary services will commence at 5:00 PM followed by a Mass at 6:00 PM. Fr. Roy Margallo will be officiating services.
