Reverend Royce J. Scherf passed away peacefully at home in Aptos, CA at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, and his sons, Brian and Jordan. He is survived by his brother, James Scherf, four nephews, his sister-in-law and brother-in- law. Rev. Scherf served Lutheran Congregations in Nebraska and Illinois. He was known for his wit and love of poetry and will be missed by his many friends. One of his published hymns:
" O God of life 's great mystery We bring to you this hopeful plea: Give us insight strong and keen, The joyful sense of things unseen.''
