Tim was one of the best RTs that I've ever had the pleasure to work with. He made the busiest days at work fun with his wit and quick smile. At one time, we had "The Three Amigos" (Tim, Eric & Sanjiv) run to the rescue whenever we called. You could not ask for any better. Three great friends that could help you get through the most critical of situations and feel good about the care and comraderie after. I'll miss hearing stories of your far-off (& local) adventures, your love for your daughters/family. I cannot imagine the loss that everyone is feeling. It has left a hole in my heart. But, thanks for the memories, my friend.

My son has multiple life-threatening allergies which were even worse when he was younger. He has had several life-threatening situations but he also has had near death experiences. Again, Tim came to the aid of my son during these near death experiences. If he was anywhere in the hospital, he would be the first to arrive to the emergency room to attend to my son. One such incident happened again when my son was on a school field trip and he had a severe allergic reaction to specific type of hay at the farm the school children were at. Again, I was in a long complex spine reconstructive surgery and got the call that my son was on his way to the emergency room with airway and respiratory compromise and that his face was swelling more and more by the minute. I think you can guess now who I called to go help my son in the emergency room. Tim said that as soon as he met my son in the emergency room he would give me a call with his assessment and let me know how things were going. Unfortunately, when he called, he told me that my son was not doing very well at all and that the emergency room physicians were doing a full-court press with epinephrine, steroids, Benadryl etc. and that he needed airway ventilation support. When Tim told me that I should leave the operating room and come down to my son, I knew that it was serious because we had dealt with critical situations together for years. I knew he wouldn't communicate that unless it was a dire situation. I urgently got someone to cover for me in the operating room and ran down to the emergency room as fast as I could with my heart pounding out of my chest, afraid that I was going to lose my son. When arriving, Tim was at the head of my son providing airway support and preparing for intubation to put my son on a ventilator if needed. Again, Tim came through as a professional and as a friend to both my son and I which we have always been forever grateful. My son still remembers those incidences vividly because it was a very traumatic experience. He realized that he could've lost his life.
When caring for patients in a critical situation in the hospital, Tim always had the airway equipment and ventilator ready to go so that I could care for my patients in an expeditious manner. Tim was always dependable and such a pleasure to work with, especially in the most difficult situations.
So the reason I bring this all up is that I received the Facebook post on Thursday and then several days later my good friend is dead. All I know is that it is a horrible tragedy. All I can say is that Tim's death is absolutely shocking and it's hard to describe the amount of sadness that I feel.
My son and I are able to reminisce about our fishing trips and my son was the first to mention how Tim was there in the emergency rooms on multiple occasions helping to save his life. My son and I are forever grateful of the friendship that we had with Tim but also so very sad that he died at such a young age.
Rest in peace my friend
Your friends,
John and JJ

I received a Facebook post from my friend Tim on Thursday as he would usually send me Facebook posts on a regular basis. I thought to myself, I need to give him a call to see how things are going. I've known Tim for over 20 years now on both a professional and personal level. I managed post-op spine reconstructive surgery patients on the ventilator in the intensive care unit for over a decade and Tim was the regular respiratory therapist I worked with in order to wean them off the ventilator and getting them breathing on their own again. Tim was someone that I could trust and rely on in regards to all the patients' ventilator management and the weaning process. Tim was dedicated to his job and we became good friends quickly. We soon began doing things outside the hospital on a personal level, especially fishing. We both had young children the same age and he recommended the county fishing program for children to get them introduced to fishing. So my son and I joined Tim and his daughter for my son's first fishing experience which was a blast! Anytime the county was having a fishing experience for the kids, Tim would always let me know and we would always try to attend it together. The county would provide fishing poles and equipment to the kids but Tim realized that my son was enjoying the fishing so he went and bought my son his first fishing pole and fishing kit. We branched out from the county program and took the kids on their own fishing trips, renting boats and taking them out on the lake. It was always a wonderful time. Since JJ and Felicia were the same age, they had a great time playing together.
Although Tim and I had a great time taking our children fishing and he had a major role of introducing my son to fishing, he played an even more important role in the health and welfare of my son. Since I had worked with Tim in the intensive care unit, I knew that I could count on him in emergency situations. There was an incident with my son, way before we ever started fishing together, where a marble slab fell on to my son's head and torso in the presence of his mom and grandma while they were doing Christmas decorations with a stool and ladder. I got the call in the operating room where I was doing the surgery that they were on their way to the emergency room at where I worked with my son who was not responding or crying which is an ominous sign in a child. The first person I called was Tim to alert him to the situation and assess things since I was in the operating room. Tim was right there ready to provide medical care to my son in this emergency situation. It was comforting to know that I had someone that I could trust and rely on in such a stressful situation. Tim provided airway and ventilation support to my son since he had a concussion. Since my son was minimally responsive, I had someone relieve me from the operating room so I could attend to my son in emergency room. Fortunately, my son finally started to cry in the emergency room which was a great sign. I was very grateful to Tim's help but, more importantly, someone that I could rely on in a professional and personal level. However, little did we know that this was only the first incident of a life-threatening situation with my son.

I just recently met Tim at his brother Pats house. He was such a fine fellow and was very friendly to me. He talked all about all his travels and I enjoyed meeting him. God bless him and bless his family who now will think of him rejoicing with God in Heaven! He had the right heart to go! Love in Christ. Margey K.

Speaking for some of the many friends Tim made while working as a respiratory therapist at CHLG - We are saddened to hear of Tim's passing. He always had great stories to share about his kids and of his camping and fishing adventures. He's already remembered by many for the Thanksgiving turkeys he'd bring to the hospital for those working on Thanksgiving. We are thankful for having known him and know he will be missed by many.

Tim, I will miss our semi-weekly conversations about fishing pristine streams and lakes, our political rantings and our love of our children. I was looking forward to you spending time in Baja with Joey and to hear of big fish caught and memories the two of you would create. I am hoping that Ali can join me at my cabin and fly fish for big trout some day and we can sit on the porch knowing you will be will us. God Bless you my brother.. Jeff

Dear Uncle Tim,
I wish we had more time together, but I have to accept that God needed you with him. You inspired me to be adventurous and to love diving into the untamed wilderness. Everyday I carry my Kershaw knife you got for me for my 15th birthday and I take great comfort in knowing that I'm protected because of you. Although it was a small event, driving around Scott's Valley with you trying to find an ice cream store and eventually settling on slurpees is one of my happiest memories. It breaks my heart knowing there won't be anymore holidays where you and my dad rehash all the crazy things you two did in your younger years. Thank you for all the years of happiness you brought to me. Rest easy Uncle Tim, I love you.
