Obituary of Frances Bergholz

Fran passed quietly after a 4 year battle with a dementia related illness. She is survived by her husband of more than 33 years, Ferd Bergholz, her son Mike and partner Chris, in San Diego with granddaughter Brittany, grandson Cameron, and Mike's brother Tom, in Germany, a stepson Ferd Jr. and his wife Karen in Oregon with grandsons Justin and Brandon. Fran has 2 brothers, Tony and Sil in Colorado and their wife's and families plus many cousins. Fran was born on the 4th of July to an Italian Father and an English Mother. She was raised in Visalia,CA where she helped her father run a fruit and vegetable stand. Fran and Ferd met while bowling in the Santa Cruz Match Club. We bowled throughout California and Nevada. She retired after working for JC Penney Co. for almost 20 years. After retiring she volunteered at the Scotts Valley Senior Center working in the boutique and helping in the kitchen. We traveled to Italy and other countries whenever we had a chance. Italy was her favorite country to visit, Venice in particular. Hawaii was another favorite to visit. With her son stationed there, we had a great reason to make many trips. As can be seen in the photo, Disneyland was one of our favorite places to visit. We made many trips to Disneyland in California, several trips to Disneyworld in Florida, and even one trip to Euro Disneyland in Paris the year that it opened. Thank You to Visiting Angels, Visiting Nurses of Santa Cruz, Flor's Guest Home, Heartland Hospice for making Fran's last weeks as comfortable as possible. Flor Madsen and her staff, of Flor's Guest Home did such a wonderful job of keeping Fran comfortable during her last two months. It was like moving her for one home to another one. Thank You Again so much for your caring. A Very Casual viewing and interment will be held on Monday June 25th from Noon and 1pm at Santa Cruz Memorial Chapel at 1927 Ocean St in Santa Cruz. Friends and family are welcome, but please come casual. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to either the "Scotts Valley Senior Center" or the "Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice" in Fran's name.
