Obituary of Lulu Louise Moser

Lulu Louise (Pokriots) Moser, 83, died peacefully at her home in Santa Cruz, California on November 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving children.
Lulu Moser was born in Pasco, Washington on October 23. 1935 to Eli Daniel and Rhoda Marcella (Izatt) Pokriots and the family moved to Santa Cruz, CA in 1938. Lulu played basketball and was a school cheerleader for the Santa Cruz High Cardinals. Before graduating, Lulu scooped ice cream at the Beach Boardwalk. After graduating in 1953, she worked for Dr. Nitler, JCPenny's of Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, and volunteered with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints' thrift store. In 1954, Lulu met her soon-to-be-husband, Dean Moser, on Cowells Beach. They won the Gensler Lee Diamond Romance Contest on channel 13 and received a honeymoon to Wilber Clarks Desert Inn, Las Vegas, NV where they were married on Jan. 15, 1955.
As a young couple, they volunteered together for the Santa Cruz Jaycees and Jaycetts from 1955 to 1964. They worked with local businesses and city events to improve the community, which included building the Harvey West Park Swimming Pool, holding Christmas toy drives, and assisting backstage with The Miss California Beauty Contest held at the Civic Auditorium. Lulu and Dean were members of the Capitola Mall Walkers.
In addition to her work and volunteer efforts, Lulu also particiapted in a variety of other activities. From the 1940s to the 1980s, she assisted her husband at the Santa Cruz Roller Rink for her long time friend, Denny Sargeant. Lulu was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She supported her sons as Church Missionaries, assisted with the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs for 22 years. Lulu helped her daughters prepare for their annual Girls' Camp Program as camp director. She also enjoyed the monthly Camino Cavilers RV Club and provided enjoyable family summer vacations by traveling and camping through many US states. Lulu also served at the California Grey Bears.
Survivors include her six children; Victor (Terri Muggridge) Moser of Missouri, Kirt Moser and (Dale Crable) of Santa Cruz, Randel "Randy" (Alison Kron) Moser of Colorado, Deanilu Moser of Santa Cruz, Brett (Karen Doyle) Moser of Tennessee, and Tiffani (Damon) Berbert of Washington. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Survived by her brother Eli Izatt "Curly" Pokriots of Santa Cruz. Preceding her in passing include her loving husband Dean Moser, her parents, and brothers: Daniel, John, James, Walter, Wilford Pokriots, and sister Anna Crowley. Her memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 220 Elk Street, Santa Cruz. Final Resting place is planned at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.
