Obituary of Duane Omar Maasch
Duane Omar Maasch, 77, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2019 in Santa Cruz, CA. He was born on August 26, 1941 in Billings, Montana to Walter and Anna Maasch.
Duane grew up in Hyscham, Montana and later joined the Army. He lived in Colorado Springs where he met the love of his life, Karen.. They married in 1983 and moved to California in 1986 eventually moving to Santa Cruz in 2003. They were happily married for over 30 years. Duane retired in 2004 and spent many hours working on their home in Twin Lakes.
Duane is survived by his brother, Lyle Maasch (Kay), daughter Annette Barela; his grandchildren; Anthony Diaz, Houston Barela, Haleigh Barela, Kamdyn Maasch and Nathan Maasch; his step-children Terri Prickett VonLoh (Kent), Khristine Prickett Vadala (Chris) and Doug Prickett (Lori); his step-grandchildren Matthew VonLoh (Caitlin), Jacob VonLoh, Madison Prickett Wright (Korbin), Kellen Vadala, Chase Vadala: his brother-in-law, John Law Smith (Tina) of Capitola; and many loving nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Smith Maasch (2013), his son Duane Maasch Jr (2010), brothers Frank Maasch (1996), Walter Maasch (2001), Alvin Maasch (2015), and his parents Walter Maasch (1991) and Anna Baur Maasch (1986).
A service will be held at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street, at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2019.
