So many of us will miss the huge impact that Sid had on all of us. From our days together at Toastmasters to the last several years at Rotary, he was always a true friend, a gentle large man, and someone who everyone enjoyed interacting with in a variety of ways. Susan and I will will miss him greatly, and our prayers and condolences go out to his family.

The very first time we met, in 2016, Sid impressed me as a straight shooter, a man you could count on to always tell it like it is. While this main seem elementary, it is indeed a rare quality these days, and one which Sid had in abundance. Each time we got together, he was gentle and forthright. I must say that I regret not having had or taken the opportunity to get to know him even more. My heart goes out to his wonderful brother, Matt, and the entire family. With the deepest of condolences, Eric McGrew

To the entire Slatter Family, I am very sorry for your loss of Sid. I was privileged to have known Sid through the many projects that Slatter Construction did at the Lipton Plant to our membership in Toastmasters and lastly, I was proud to have sponsored Sid to become a member of the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz
Sid was a True Leader. He was a First Class Guy and a Gentle Giant of a Man! We will miss him. Rest in Peace-Sid Slatter!

I met Sid through his father, Vann, while I was tending bar at Michael's On Main. The Slatter family took my wife and I in as their own. I proposed to my wife at their winery. Sid was like an uncle to us, just a constant comfort and a loyal friend. We all spent plenty of days talking about nothing, and many days found us up at the winery. These memories were 12 years ago now, but still impress on me the importance of good friends and family. I'm heartbroken by this news, and am lucky to have spent even a short time getting to know a wonderful person.
With Love,
Dominick and McKalen Maggio

My heartfelt sympathy to you Meredith. I loved always seeing you guys up at Chaminade. Hopefully we can catch up for a drink up there again and toast Sid when this pandemic is over. I know your heart is hurting right now.
Also my condolences to Caitlin and Emily. Your dad was amazing and put in a lot of time and effort at Good Shepherd to enhance the grounds. Such a kind person. He will be sadly missed. Treasure all your memories with him because that is what will get you through. Love and hugs to you all.

Sid and I are the same age. His Mom Christine, is like a mother to me, and has welcomed me with open arms from the Day I met her and Vann. To tell a long story short, I had a chance to work for Hunter Hill in the very beginning. Sid was always there to help no matter how busy he was. Being a local Chef, I had the great opportunity to cook in ‘Sids Kitchen’ as it known. Well, if you’ve ever been to Hunter Hill, you would confess that it was the best place to eat and drink in Soquel on the edge of vines and beautiful gardens. Sid, built it himself exactly the way he wanted to have fun, with a wrap around bar, two grills, a smoker, pit, fridge, sink and if you were lucky, he was right there with you. Well, not too long ago, we were doing a fund raiser I believe, and Sid asked what he could do to help as he finished up smoking the birds. “Of Course,” I replied...you can take over stirring this Risotto...little did I tell him you know you can never leave it, and its quite the work-out on your arms from constantly stirring. This day, we were making risotto for at least 75-100. Well let’s just say that after that day, I was always welcome to cook, but if I ever make him do Risotto again in his kitchen, he’d shoot me himself and put me on the f*^king BBQ. I’ll never forget that day and all the other incredible moments I got to spend with Sid. He was funny, loving, generous, smart and one of the most kick ass guys you would ever of known.
