We are fortunate to have lived next door to Vi and Dale for decades. One couldn't ask for better neighbors. They were like grandparents to our daughters. A special treat at Halloween was going to their home and seeing them on the deck with their grotesque masks handing out treats to the neighborhood children. We'll never forget how Dale walked down the street after the 1989 earthquake making sure all of us had turned off our gas. Later, characteristically, Vi grumbled that he hadn't even checked on their gas outlet before he went to neighbors' houses! Vi had a great appreciation for the ocean, and we would share sightings of whales and dolphins. When we'd go on trips, we could count on Vi to check on our house and garden, and make sure our cat was keeping well. In recent years, despite her increasing frailty, Vi never lost her interest in others, and she often had wry comments on what was going on in the world. She was a devoted member of Calvary Episcopal Church, and will be missed by everyone who knew her. The Gill Family

In loving memory of my dear Aunt Violet. She was a very special lady. She loved her family very much. She contributed countless hours of service to her community and to her church, along with her husband, Dale. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her. The world seems more empty without her here, but she reunites with all her family in heaven.

I will never forget how kind Violet was to my daughter Giovanna. When she was just a tiny thing, Violet and Giovanna would swing on the porch together, and Violet would tell her lots of exciting stories. Such good stories, Giovanna would want to go back the next day.
She will be missed! May she Rest In Peace and be hugging the love of her life right now!
Thank you for sharing your Mom with us! She was a gem!
