Obituary of Edith Grace Hayes

Edith Grace Hayes passed away peacefully on October 5, 2021. Edith, also lovingly known as Granny, was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe and her devoted son, Ron. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Stan, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her two loving sisters. Edith loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much she would brag about them to anyone who would listen. Edith and Joe were avid fans of NASCAR, the San Francisco Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers. She was a well-known member of the Santa Cruz Westside community for over 80 years. She loved to people watch and wave to the neighbors and school children as they walked by her big bay window. Her favorite getaway was South Lake Tahoe for the weekend. Her door was always open to her countless friends who would stop by unannounced at any given time. She was quite the hostess and was always there when a friend needed help. She will be truly missed and will be forever in our hearts. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 14 from 4 to 6 PM at Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel and a service will be on Friday, October 15 at 10 AM at Santa Cruz Memorial Park, both are located at 1927 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz.
