Please share a memory of Rosalee to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosalee “Rosie” D. Fitzgerald, born in Ulysses, Kansas on November 27, 1934, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022. She was the devoted wife of Lee Fitzgerald for 63 years, who preceded her in death four months ago. Rosie’s parents were Gus and Irene Wagner and she was the youngest of three children. They grew up on a farm in Ulysses before moving to Bakersfield, CA. Her brother, Bob Wagner, and sister, Pat Johnston, also preceded her in death.
Rosie wed Lee in 1958 in San Francisco and lived there a short while before moving to Capitola in 1960. Rosie enjoyed years of golfing both with her husband and brother-in-law, in addition to the Women’s Club at DeLaveaga. One of her life’s greatest joys was her grandchildren. Caring for them from infancy through their teens and enjoying their frequent visits to play cards or just hang out with Grandma and Grandpa.
Rosie leaves behind four children: Daniel “Danny” Fitzgerald of Newport News, VA; Deborah “Debbie” (Fitzgerald) Egense of Capitola; Denise (Fitzgerald) Weybright of Santa Cruz and David Fitzgerald of Boulder Creek. In addition to six grandchildren: Sean Egense, Kristine (Egense) Savattone, Andrew Weybright, Katherine (Weybright) Kinsman, Lucy Fitzgerald and Jayden Fitzgerald, she also leaves behind two great-grandchildren: Mitch and Mia Evarts, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at the Santa Cruz Memorial Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean Street Ext., Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in Rosie’s name.
