When the Santa Cruz Sentinel announced Glen's death, the paper said it was "unexpected." That commentary is consistent with what those who knew Glen always took for granted. Glen would be there. Glen "showed up." I spent twenty years as an elected member of the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors and was - and continue to be - active in the political life of this community. It is hard to accept that Glen won't be at the next rally, at the demonstration, and (most of all) in those behind the scenes meetings where politics is practiced and made to carry forward the desires and hopes of the community into public policy. Glen Erik Schaller? Presente!.
