Obituary of Beth Ann Grensted
Please share a memory of Beth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beth Grensted, a longtime resident of Mount Hermon, passed away the morning of June 29th in Capitola, CA. Beth was born in Alhambra, CA on August 15th of 1955 to Barbara & Douglas Grensted. Her family moved to Mount Hermon in 1969, eventually settling in the family cabin in 1971. She is survived by her sister Lynne Thurston, her brother-in-law Alan Thurston, her niece Rebecca Engberg, her nephew David Thurston, and her many cousins.
Beth was always a bright individual. She graduated from Baymonte Christian High School in 1974 and attended Cabrillo College as well as a fashion design college in southern California. Though never graduating from these institutions, she remained a gifted academic with a tireless thirst for knowledge and an incredible memory & recollection of events & conversations.
Master of the whimsical side eye, a sharp wit, and the occasional eye roll, Beth was a passionate person whose interests spanned several arenas. She was a talented seamstress, a skilled potter, and a thorough genealogy researcher. These three fields were a vocation of hers outside of her actual occupations, which included work at Santa Cruz Title Company/Redding Title and private care work.
Towards the end of April, Beth suffered a medical emergency that put her in the hospital for nearly two months. After a tenuous stretch, Beth’s health improved enough to be moved from the Hospital to a Rehab Center in Capitola. She showed great progress during her limited time at the Rehab Center and had gotten to walking around. Her spirits were high and there was hope she would be returning home. This did not come to be as her health took a sudden turn for the worse and she passed away.
Whether it was through work, pottery, Church, or Mt Hermon, Beth developed many rich and lasting friendships over the years. She was blessed to have had many visitors during her hospitalization and rehab, all of which were a great encouragement to her family and her through that difficult time.
Beth’s family would love to invite these beloved friends to remember her and pay their respects at her memorial service at Lakeside Meeting Room of Mount Hermon Conference Center in Mt Hermon, CA at 2pm on July 27th.
