The passing of Joe is like finishing the final chapter of the best book you ever read.. We will miss every single thing about this man, his laugh, his smile, his kindness, his love for his children and his love for his beautiful wife Karen. Since 1980 we have shared a special bond with Karen and Joe and their two wonderful daughters that we had the privilege of sharing many memories and holidays with. This is a very hard book to put back on the shelf and I am sure that I will need to read a chapter or two from time to time. Until then, we will look forward to the sequel of the lives of Ana and Leslie and their families. We love them with all our heart. Rest in peace my dear friend.

I’m Al Hernandez, I will be out of the state on this special day. I have many happy memories of Joe throughout my life. One event that I still remember was Christmas time in 1959 I was 10 Yrs old We had just moved from Woodland to San Jose and the whole family was celebrating the holiday at my Aunt Josephine’s house for a tamale dinner. Joe was on leave I think and he showed up with a present for me. When I unwrapped it, it was a marble pinball machine, it turned out to be one of my most cherished toy that I took with me to many family events. Genuine and thoughtful , he will be missed. Love you Cuz and may you rest in peace.

I met Joe in the grocery business when I was 19 years old. We instantly hit it off. Joe was a great mentor and taught me so much about the industry and during this time we became great friends. A friendship that was 48 years strong. Joe was was so much fun to be around and had such a great laugh and was an awesome story teller. Joe, His lovely wife Karen, my wife Stella and I became great travel buddies and best friends. Every trip we took together was so much fun, so much laughter and never a dull moment. The Camping trips and baseball games with the kids, the trips to Reno, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, New York, PV, Laughlin, the Southwest Road Trips, so many more trips and great memories. Joe always had your back and I was blessed to have him as my friend. Joe was so proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to talk about them. We had so many great conversations about work, life, sports, our trips and family. Stella and I will miss Joe and Kaybabe as they were such a big part of our life. We will always hold them close to our hearts and were so lucky to have them as friends. We Love you Joe and Karen. We are glad your back together again, dancing, laughing as you spend your eternal life together.
