No woman had ever looked at me like that before. I'd been under her spell since I was 14.

Catherine was an amazing person. I knew Catherine when we were teens. I visited her in NY in college and we hiked in Yosemite together in High School.
She taught me to ski. I will think of her often in the mountains. Her spirit and sense of adventure was immense. My heart goes out to her family. May her memories live on in each of us.

Catherine was a great lady! We have all lost a special friend and the piping community has lost a great leader and teacher.

Cathy was a classmate and neighbor when I was growing up. I'll never forget hearing her practicing the bagpipes in her backyard and how my Dad loved it. Though we both lived in Santa Cruz, I didn't see her much but I knew the sweet house she lived in. My condolences to the family in this time of loss.

Catherine was one of the bravest people I have ever known. She faced her treatment with resolve, acceptance and humor. I enjoyed getting to know her in her end of life and was always brightened by her smile. Catherine was the one that told me about the fresh and delicious Fuji apples in Watsonville. And she also enlightened me to the bagpipe community which she loved so much. I remember seeing her proudly leading her bagpipe group at Wharf to Wharf 2012. I also remember her sister, Anne, who was a constant and loving presence throughout Catherine's treatment. Anne was always steady, always calm, always supportive and always there. My heart goes out to Catherine's family as you face this world without her beautiful presence. She was a gem.

I spent a lot of time with Catherine in the early 90's. She was always so warm and welcoming and her beautiful smile lit up the room. She made her little cottage so perfectly homey. We had lost touch over the years. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends. She is dearly remembered.

She was a beautiful person inside and out. She chose a beautiful place to live early on and did what she loved--right to the untimely end. She possessed great creative gifts which she generously shared. Whether it was Chopin on the piano or Scotland the Brave on the pipes, she gave it everything she had. Her band honored her by playing nearby during her last hours.
She was also fortunate to have parents who encouraged her and a sister who lovingly cared for her through the darkest hours. I embrace them in their grief.
I hope she'll be there to pipe for me at the end of this long road.

Catherine (Kathy) taught me to not be so serious, and yet we had deep discussions. She made me laugh when I didn't want to. She taught me that we are all beautiful in our own way - especially inside where it counts. She was talented. Some of her last words to me were, "We are here to learn."
I miss you already Trinkie. If there is an afterlife, I know you will cause the equivalent of laughter there, and make them think.
