Obituary of Phylis Thom Agnelli

Phylis Thom Agnelli, daughter of Andrew and Mary Thom, formerly of San Carlos, CA and Corralitos, CA, passed away at her home in Redondo Beach, CA at the age of 82 years on March 22, 2014. Having recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary, she is survived by her husband, Louis Agnelli; her four children (and their spouses) Mary D'Agostino (Richard), Linda Carroll (Larry), Philip Agnelli (Jill), and Donald Agnelli (Carolyn); Her five grandchildren: Alexandra D'Agostino, Celina Carroll, Nicole Carroll, Arianna Agnelli, and Paul Agnelli; Her brother, Douglas Thom (Lisbeth), her sister, Virginia Alexander (Brian), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her older brother Donald Thom (Jocelyn). A graduate of San Jose State University, Phylis held a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Library Science and Media Education. For many years she taught in the San Mateo County School system and was the Library/Media Director in the Santa Cruz School system. While living abroad with her family, she enjoyed being head librarian at schools in both Lima, Peru and Ponce, Puerto Rico. Always up for the excitement of a new challenge, Phylis decided, at the age of 60, to become a flight attendant for American Airlines. She spent five years with the airline, winning not only many friends, but also several awards for outstanding service. Her bright smile and love of life and adventure will be missed by everyone. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name is suggested to the Cancer Support Community/Redondo Beach, 109 West Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 5th, at 11:00am at the Oakwood Chapel, Santa Cruz Memorial, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd, Santa Cruz, CA 95065
