Obituary of Thomasa Marie Gomez "Tita"

August 8, 1938 - November 24, 2012 Thomasa Marie Gomez, 74, passed away peacefully Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her 6 children, Frank (Connie) Gilbert of Fairborn,OH, Dennis (Liz) Gilbert of Angels Camp, Sam (Maria) Gilbert of Oroville, Doris Tabieros (Robert) and Steven (Suzi), and Daniel Gomez, all of Santa Cruz and her 17 grandchildren, Robert, Frank, Danny, DJ, Dodi, Danny Ray, Jason, Katrinna, Angela, Joel, Tasha, David, Vincent, Steven, Andrew, Michael, and Gabriel, and 35 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 6 brothers and sisters, George, Ernestine "Lulu", Larry, Michael, Margie and Marcus, her nieces, nephews, cousins, her uncle Loretto, and many God-children. A native of San Ysidro, she has lived in Santa Cruz since 1955. She worked at the original Tampico Restaurant by the Boardwalk, then later became the owner of Tampico Kitchen on Pacific Avenue. She has been a longtime member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Thomasa loved garage sales and loved taking her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren to parades. A visitation for family and friends will be at Oakwood Memorial Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Rd (Adjacent to Dominican Hospital) Sunday, December 2nd from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church Monday, December 3rd at 10:30 A.M. Following will be a graveside committal service at Santa Cruz Memorial and afterwards everyone is invited to Tampico Kitchen to celebrate Tommie's life.
